LYNN — The Police and Fire departments were on the scene Tuesday after a car slammed into a home on Greenwood Avenue.
The incident happened at around 2:30 p.m., when police said a vehicle, operated by 51-year-old Mayra Santana, was launched over a stone wall and down a driveway into the front of the house.
Santana, who was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, was taken into custody on the charge of operating under the influence of alcohol.
Elijah Dada lives on Greenwood Avenue and witnessed the crash, which he said started further up the hill on Greenwood Circle.
He said the vehicle, a red Subaru Impreza, nearly hit his car on its way down the hill before it barreled over the stone wall.
“She went through the bush and went straight into the house,” Dada said.
Dada and his brother Dami Dada then rushed to help the driver, who he said lives on Greenwood Circle, out of the vehicle. Elijah Dada described Santana as being dazed and in a state of shock after the accident.
The driver’s car sustained heavy damage to its front end and rear bumper, and had to be towed from the scene.
The home was also damaged from the crash, but suffered no major structural damage.
The Police Department said that an investigation is ongoing.
