BOSTON — Several local leaders were honored as part of the first-ever Amplify Latinx 100 Local Latinx Leaders list.
According to Amplify Latinx, the honorees, who are called amplifiers, include local leaders from all professions, industries, and advocacy groups, ranging from CEOs and politicians to artists. The list’s release on Sept. 15 coincided with the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Among those honored were Mabelyn Lopez, owner of 4 Insurance; Ivanna Solano, founder and executive director of Love Your Magic; and Carolina Trujillo, all from Lynn.
Trujillo is executive director of Citizens Inn of Peabody and consultant to La Voz, Essex Media Group’s Spanish-language newspaper.
Solano founded Love Your Magic in 2017 with a group of Black and Brown women educators. The organization’s mission is to equip Black and Brown girls with the tools to advocate for themselves and their communities, and to provide a space for them to tell their stories, develop their self-esteem, and celebrate each other.
Solano was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to Lynn when she was 7 years old. She also works as the director of Boston programs at Girls Inc.
Lopez is a first-generation American whose parents immigrated from the Dominican Republic, with her mother becoming a business owner and her father becoming an engineer.
Lopez founded 4 Insurance in 2021, and since then the business has grown to include three branches in Lynn, Winthrop, and Hamilton. It also earned a Women Business of the Year award from the North Shore Latino Business Association.
“This leadership award fills me with immense joy,” Trujillo, who is originally from Colombia, said. “It acknowledges not just my achievements, but the potential within our community. Together, we inspire positive change and pave the way for a brighter future.”
In addition, she is a member of Gov. Maura Healey’s Latino Empowerment Council and the Department of Transitional Assistance North Shore Advisory Board.
State Rep. Manny Cruz, of Salem, who represents the 7th Essex district in the state House of Representatives, was also a member of the Amplify Latinx 100 Local Latinx Leaders list.
