The St. Mary’s Spartans (4-2) are back to winning ways after a 2-0 victory over Malden Catholic.
The goals were scored by Brooke Moloney and Sophie Skabeikis. Issie Skabeikis got on the statsheet with an assist while Moloney also provided an assist in the victory.
St. Mary’s defense proved to be too strong for Malden Catholic as Kylie Kennison picked up another clean sheet on the year.
Spartans coach Jim Foley was pleased with the win.
“It was a good bounce-back win after a tough league loss,” Foley said.

When two of the top teams on the North Shore face off, it’s bound to be a great game. Both St. Mary’s (4-0-2) and Gloucester (6-0-1) battled hard to a 1-1 draw.
Gloucester got on the scoreboard first with a first-half penalty kick. Going into halftime, the Spartans trailed 1-0 but refused to give in.
In the second half, the Spartans scored a “beautiful” goal from Mehdi Khemmich, which was assisted by Eider Solis.
Spartans coach Shane McCarran praised some individual performers after the game.
“Our top performers were Brody McCarran, Cade Cornell, Chance Bonfanti, Hakeem Akande defensively along with Kaya Jackson, Marcos Weber Jr., and Eider Solis on the attack,” McCarran said.

Another win for Lynnfield as the Pioneers took care of business against Pentucket.
Lynnfield’s Taylor Valiton scored a hat trick.

The Rams (7-0) remain undefeated with a win against a tough Chelsea team. Both teams came into Monday’s matchup at 6-0 and with Classical’s win, it moves them into sole possession of first place in the league.
Not only are the Rams 7-0, but they have yet to lose a set all season. Classical beat Chelsea 25-20, 25-14, 25-17.
Sophomore setter Emma Chevalier who finished the game with 25 assists, four kills, and four aces.
Rams head coach Chris LeBlanc said the player of the match was junior Ashley Alukonis.
“[Alukonis] filled in at a new position and played excellent all-around with 4 kills and only one hitting error,” LeBlanc said.
The Rams next match is on Wednesday, when they host Somerville at 5:15.

It’s never easy winning away from home, however, the Pioneers volleyball not only won, but did so in straight sets.
Lynnfield will be on the road for its next game, when it takes on Pentucket on Wednesday.

In a nail-biting match between two solid teams, it was the Rams (3-1) who edged Somerville to pick up their third win of the season.
The match came down to the wire with the six, seven, and eight matchups proving to be pivotal for the Rams. Finn Dalferro, Brayden Ohahnesian, and Boo DiSala got the Rams across the finish line.
