SAUGUS — The Board of Health is set to host an emergency meeting Tuesday night at the request of Town Manager Scott Crabtree in the wake of what the company called an “upset condition” at the WIN Waste Innovations facility on Route 107 that caused a loud, jet-engine-like sound to come from the plant.
The meeting is slated for 6:30 p.m. at the Saugus Library in the Community Room.
“I am aware that this was unsettling to many residents and families throughout Saugus,” Crabtree said in a statement. “The town takes this matter seriously. Therefore, I have requested that the Saugus Board of Health, which has jurisdiction concerning this incident, to immediately convene an emergency public meeting to have representatives from WIN Waste Innovations explain what occurred, why it occurred, and what steps they will take to prevent it from happening again.”
Crabtree requested that both the Fire and Police departments attend the meeting to present their reports and be able to answer any questions the board and public may have.
If you have any further questions, please attend the emergency meeting or contact the Board of Health at (781) 231-4117.
