LYNNFIELD — An emergency water main break on Edwards Avenue, close to its intersection with Main Street, prompted the Lynnfield Center Water District to shut down the system from Partridge Lane toward Wakefield on Main Street Wednesday.
The affected areas include Bay State Road, Freeman Street, Pine Street, London Road, Edwards Avenue (North and South), Coleman Road, New Meadow Road, and Old Towne Road.
An official notice by the LCWD urged that residents and businesses in the affected area brace for temporary water service disruptions as repairs began around 4 p.m. The LCWD expected repairs to be completed within three to four hours.
The LCWD said that residents may experience a temporary loss of water pressure during the repair work and that there may be temporary issues with water discoloration. Residents were advised to avoid using hot water until the water runs clear.
According to the LCWD, residents and businesses were strongly advised to run their cold water taps first once the water system is back in operation to flush out any potential discoloration or sediment that may have entered the system during the repair process. This will help ensure that water quality returns to normal quickly.
