KIPP’s football team, which has exploded for 118 points across four games, entered the win column yet again Friday night. The Panthers (3-1) defeated Leicester (0-4) in enemy territory, 26-21.
“It was a slow start. Sloppy with a couple of turnovers in the first half,” KIPP coach Jim Rabbitt said. “The weather certainly played a role a little bit…. We were able to answer.”
Morenel Castro (7 rushes, 158 yards, 2 TDs) and Jovan Machado (63 yards, 2 TDs) led the way for KIPP, which trailed 13-12 after three quarters. Castro rushed for a 69-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter.
“Morenel and Jovan, as usual, made things happen,” Rabbitt said. “In the fourth quarter, we came to play.”
KIPP travels to face Lowell Catholic at 7 p.m. Friday.

Another Friday night, another Lynnfield football win. The visiting Pioneers (4-0) took care of Pentucket (2-2), 38-7. Lynnfield welcomes Ipswich to Pioneer Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, looking to remain undefeated.

The Tanners upped their record to 3-2-2 after shutting out the Falcons of Danvers. AJ Forte had two goals and an assist, while Vitor Soster, Owen Brennan, and Abu Kaba also found the back of the net.
Luke Murray played the role of the facilitator with three assists, while Lucas Silva, Daniel de Andrade, and Fabio Goulart also played well according to Peabody coach Stan McKeen.

Behind nifty goals from Nick Miller and Mehdi Khemmich, the Spartans jumped to 6-0-2 on the season after doubling up Malden Catholic.
“It was another hard-fought 80 minutes against a strong Malden Catholic team,” St. Mary’s coach Shane McCarran said. “We dominated the game from start to finish and maintained possession throughout.”

Saugus’ girls soccer team (6-2) took care of the Vikings on Friday, 7-0. Madison Botta (13 goals this season), Liliana Hernandez, and Veronica Ortega all scored twice. Shay Sewell also tucked one on a penalty kick.
Tori Carter made some key saves, while Violet Hawley and Layla Manderson played well on defense.

Jane Raymond scored off a set piece from Greta Siefken and the Big Blue defeated St. Mary’s at home, 1-0. Victoria Quagrello and Sam Ward played strong defensive games according to Swampscott coach Jaymie Caponigro.
