LTE: Nicole McClain for Lynn City Council

To the editor

October 3, 2023 by To the editor

To the editor and citizens of Lynn:

It is my pleasure to write this letter endorsing City Councilor Nicole McClain’s candidacy for reelection. I first met Nicole when, at a young age, she walked across Blossom Street from Marian Gardens to attend Washington Community Magnet School.

Nicole’s resume is extensive and filled with a lifetime of service to our country and our city.

In service to our country, Nicole spent 11 years in the Army National Guard and served two tours of duty in Iraq. With this experience, Nicole brings to the City Council a hard-earned perspective of what it takes to be a team member and to work for a common cause. Nicole also brings this experience to the Disabled American Veterans organization, of which she is a member.

In service to our city, and as the founder and president of the North Shore Juneteenth Association, Nicole has been actively involved in celebrating Lynn’s diverse population. Two of these well-attended events are the Juneteenth Celebration held at the Lynn Museum and the Diversity Matters Fest held at Red Rock Park.

Also, in Nicole’s recent appointment to the City Council, due to the passing of Councilor Buzzy Barton, she has been able to offer fresh ideas while gaining the hands-on experience of working with the mayor and other council members. Each of Nicole’s life experiences offers her a unique position to focus on the challenges our urban community faces.

Nicole is passionate about meeting the needs of Lynn’s citizens and is dedicated to doing the hard work necessary to create a city government that meets the needs of all its constituents. She is keenly aware of the important issues our city faces regarding economic growth, diversity, housing, transportation, and meeting the needs of our senior citizens and our youth.

Nicole has demonstrated the leadership skills and the interpersonal skills needed to continue being a highly productive member of the City Council. As an active member of our city and our City Council, Nicole will continue to work tirelessly to help build a vibrant Lynn that all its citizens can be proud to call home.

Therefore, it is an honor and a privilege to endorse Councilor Nicole McClain for one of the at-large City Council positions.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Barile, Ed.D.
Former principal of Washington Community Magnet School
Lynn
