You know what I’ve been thinking? I’m happy to be wrong.
As much as I enjoy English football coach Anthony LaFratta and the work he’s done through one-and-a-half seasons, I picked his Bulldogs to lose against Revere this past Friday – at home.
What can I say? Revere had beaten English every season since 2011, including a 47-0 final a year ago.
Well, the Bulldogs won, 28-6, after a dominant first quarter – one that saw rushing touchdowns from Limbert Thomas and Isaiah Goorahlal, and an interception from Cody Richardson.
Rushing for 231 yards in the first half wasn’t bad, either. Zamari Omosefe raced for a 56-yard touchdown in the second half, and that was all the insurance English needed.
The Bulldogs (1-3) got their first win of the season, beat a nearby opponent for the first time in over a decade, and – most importantly, in my opinion – were all smiles on the Manning Field turf after the game.
To English, which travels to take on Greater Lawrence Tech at 6 p.m. this Friday, good week.
