The Saugus girls soccer team (8-2) keep on winning, with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Beverly.
Shawn Sewell opened the scoring, utilizing her speed to get past multiple defenders to earn herself her fourth goal of the season.
After Beverly responded off of a corner kick, the Sachems dug deep to snatch a win. 14 minutes into the second half, Veronica Ortega found Madison Botta, who made no mistake in front of the net to give Saugus a 2-1 lead. The goal was Botta’s 15th of the season.
With 2:30 left in the game, Botta went from scorer to provider, assisting Shay Sewell who iced the game with a goal.
BOYS SOCCER
Peabody 4
Winthrop 1
The Tanners (4-2-2) showed how strong and balanced they are in a 4-1 win over Winthrop.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Dylan Flanagan made 12 saves for Peabody to keep Winthrop at bay.
Then on offense, speedster Abu Kaba was ruthless in front of goal, scoring two while also providing two assists.
Both Owen Brennan and Vitor Soster got on the scoresheet with a goal apiece. AJ Forte and Kacper Kowalczyk contributed with an assist each.
Head coach Stan McKeen said in addition to Flanagan, Luke Murray and Fabio Goulart played well for the Tanners.

A Northeastern Conference showdown saw the Magicians and Witches battle to a draw. Neither team could find the breakthrough.

Despite scoring eight goals, head coach Jim Foley credited his defense consisting of Riley Maguire, Cam Dunn and Lily Norton.
Bella Owumi scored three goals and provided two assists to lead the Spartans.
Brooke Moloney (2 assists) and Sophie Skabeikis (1 assist) both scored a brace to help St. Mary’s. Cierra Johnson also got on the scoresheet with a goal.
“It was a great bounce-back win for us after a tough stretch,” Foley said.

On a day dedicated to the seniors, the Tanners made sure to bring home the win on senior night.
The balanced attack saw Connie Patturelli, Stella DiAmbrosio, and Ally Bettencourt all score for Peabody in the win.
Bettencourt, Madi Barrett, and Gianna Sinibaldi all contributed to the win with an assist.
Swampscott 2
Danvers 2
The Big Blue battled and went home with a draw against a solid Danvers team.
Swampscott’s first goal came by a freshman-to-freshman connection when Lyla Rogers assisted Mia Bailey.
Greta Siefken stayed in form with another goal for the Big Blue.
Coach Jaymie Caponigro singled out Victoria Quagrello for her overall performance.
“Victoria Quagrello played great defensively and offensively,” Caponigro said.

It was a dominating display from the Rams on Wednesday night. Mea Papazoglou and Candace Choueuth split time in net, earning a clean sheet between the pair.
Gianna Parker and Lauren Wilson led the line for the Rams, with both securing a brace.
Sienna McLean, Kaydee Rouse, Tatiana Lazo, and Ariana Martinez all scored for Classical.

It was a clean sweep (25-23, 25-17, 25-13) for the Magicians to earn them their sixth win of the season.
Megan Parkman had 11 digs while Alyssa Gentile contributed with six digs.
On the offensive end, Lila Moniz and Maddie Cole both had eight kills.
The Magicians will look to earn their seventh win on Thursday at Haverhill.

Despite the loss, there were a couple standout performances from the Big Blue.
Senior outside hitter Aniyah Ross recorded seven kills, while captain setter Jamila Oriakhi had five aces.

St. Mary’s 151
The Spartans lost to a “very tough” Stang side, as coach Jay Fiste described it. The loss moves St. Mary’s record to 9-3 (6-1 CCL).
Chase Collins led the way for the Spartans with 26 points, while Stephen Nason and Kyle Rush contributed with 23.
St. Mary’s look to bounce back next Friday against Bishop Fenwick.

The Magicians (10-1) earned their tenth win of the season at King Rail Golf Club. All eight Magicians won their matches.
Charlie Grenier shot an even par (34) while Marty Ryan shot a 35. Matt Mahan and Toby Grenier both won their respective matches 9-0.
Marblehead’s next match is on Wednesday against Salem.
