BOSTON — A 22-year-old Lynn man faces decades in prison after pleading guilty to a federal drug charge.
According to a press release from acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy’s office, Juan Ramos pleaded guilty to one count of possession of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine with intent to distribute, which he had been charged with in May.
Officials said the arrest was the result of an investigation into an apartment in Lynn that was rented under a fictitious name and determined to be a hub for drug packaging and distribution this spring.
Before his arrest on May 2, Ramos had been on pre-trial release for an unrelated domestic-violence charge and was wearing a GPS ankle monitor, which recorded him frequently traveling to the apartment.
The release stated that when law enforcement searched the apartment on May 2, they found approximately 500 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, 30 pounds of cutting agent, and other items used in the distribution and packaging of drugs, along with a revolver.
Ramos was arrested after he fled during the search, and officers found an additional 200 grams of fentanyl and a concealed pistol in his vehicle.
For the charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, Ramos faces up to 20 years in prison, from three years to life of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million.
Ramos’s sentencing hearing from U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris is scheduled for Jan. 25, 2024.
