The St. Mary’s boys improved to 2-2 with sweeps against Bishop Fenwick and Cardinal Spellman on Senior Day. At the Lynn Woods course, always-reliable Kyle Kwiatek (1st, 18:39), Matt Terrien (2nd, 20:09) and Matheus Menezes-Avendanha (3rd, 20:10) led the Spartans’ charge.
Fenwick ran without its top runner, Sam Appleyard, who was out with the flu, and his brother, Doron, despite suffering from a similar illness, finished fourth as the top finisher for the Crusaders. Will Rand, John Reilly, Josh Miller, and Ryan Gauthier rounded out Fenwick’s top runners.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Spartans (1-3) defeated Spellman, but fell to Fenwick. Kelsey Kwiatek (22:01), Nina Lopes (24:56), and Sophia O’Brien (26:47) were St. Mary’s top finishers.
The Fenwick girls ran to their fifth consecutive victory, led by Julia Davis who has now won four straight races. Following closely behind were Marianna Kay (3rd), Olivia Rowe (4th), Caroline Blatchford (5th), Emily Elliott (6th) and Mireille Climenson (8th).
