LYNN — Lynn Museum/Lynn Arts intern Rebecca M. Beit-Aharon, IUE-CWA Local 201 President Adam Kaszynski, and IUE-CWA Local 201 Business Agent Justin Richards joined Attorney James J. Carrigan on his LCTV show, “The American Dream,” to discuss the union and an event at Lynn Museum celebrating its 90th anniversary.
The show, which airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., and Saturdays at 7 a.m. on Comcast Channel 3 and Verizon Channel 38, is “designed to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how public and private policy is developed,” according to Carrigan.
Carrigan explained that Beit-Aharon, a student at the University of Massachusetts Boston, helped set up the exhibit at the museum celebrating the union. The “celebration/digitization event” on Oct. 14 runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lynn Museum.
The conversation between Carrigan, Beit-Aharon, Kaszynski, and Richards ran for just less than half an hour and began with a discussion of the union’s reputation amongst other labor groups nationwide.
“They appreciate the leadership Local 201 has given,” Carrigan said.
Kaszynski said the union has demonstrated solidarity with numerous other unions over its years and has “led on the shop floor” with the way that it grieves and its democratic structure.
“Our power really rests in our people being organized and being in control of the shop and of their union and that leads to better results for workers,” Kaszynski said.
Episodes can be found on the Lynn Community Television website after they air.
