Gasinowski and Falcons too much for Swampscott

SWAMPSCOTT — Swampscott (3-2-1) welcomed Danvers (4-2) to Blocksidge Field Friday night, falling short in a 27-14 final.

The Falcons’ star running back, Owen Gasinowski, lived up to his hype, rushing for 128 yards while hauling in five catches for 103 yards. He scored three touchdowns in total.

The Big Blue started the game with an early 7-0 lead thanks to a Will Bush 4-yard touchdown run set up by a 36-yard rush from Sam Nadworny (74 rushing yards).

Swampscott kept Danvers quiet, but Gasinowski ran one in from 5 yards out just before halftime (7-7).

On the ensuing kickoff, the Big Blue couldn’t handle a squib kick, allowing the Falcons to recover the ball with 35 seconds remaining in the half.

Travis Voisine found Gasinowski on a crossing route to give the Falcons a 14-7 lead at the break.

The momentum stayed with Danvers in the third quarter when it caught Swampscott sleeping with an onside kick, which was recovered by the visitors.

Danvers marched downfield and, after three consecutive quarterback sneaks, Voisine found the end zone to make it 21-7.

To start the fourth quarter, Swampscott scored its second touchdown with a Nadworny score up the middle to cut the deficit to 21-14.

But from there, Danvers’ solution was to give the ball to Gasinowski, and run the clock. The Falcons chewed up more than 10 minutes and went 92 yards to ice the game with a 26-yard receiving touchdown from – none other than – Gasinowski.

The Big Blue look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Beverly next Saturday for a 1 p.m. showdown.
