Jelder DeLeon of KIPP’s boys soccer team (8-5-3) scored a “beautiful” hat trick in the Panthers’ 4-2 home win against Innovation Tuesday, as said by coach Josh Canales.
“He’s been on a hot streak as of late; he’s someone that colleges should really look out for,” Canales said.
DeLeon also dished out an assist to Henry Romero, who completed the play with a technical finish. Romero and Jessiel Amparo registered an assist apiece.
KIPP has two games remaining with its state tournament chances on the line.

“We went down in the first half, but our boys didn’t give up and played very well against a tough opponent,” said English coach Valdrim Xhemajli. “The defense played exceptionally well. Guys like Ahmed Abdelraham and Erick Zepeda kept us in the game.”
GIRLS SOCCER

Malden 0
Fahely Escobar scored off a Tatiana Lazos cross for the game’s lone goal as the Rams escaped against Malden. Lauren Wilson protected the net for Classical.

Despite Eve Byrne playing a strong game between Swampscott’s pipes, Peabody squeezed out a nail-biter against the Big Blue with Connie Patturelli tucking one from Logan Lomasney.
“Shutout to Eva Joyce in net,” said Peabody coach Andrew Douglass. “Ally Bettencourt was a standout on defense. Brooke Lomasney and Cara Corriveau did well in the midfield.”
Lyla Rogers played a “great game,” according to Swampscott coach Jaymie Caponigro.

Despite winning shooters Kyle Rush (5.5 holes) and Josh Doney (5.5), as well as Shea Newhall (4.5) and Micah Hashikawa (4.5) all giving strong performances, St. Mary’s (12-5) was bested by Marblehead (13-1) Tuesday.
Marty Ryan (6.5 holes), Jacob Hershfield (6), Matt Mahan (6), and Joy Meshulam (6) led the way for the Magicians.

The St. Mary’s Lady Spartans finished the regular season 2-4 after losing to Arlington Catholic Tuesday, but beating host Bishop Stang. Kelsey Kwiatek (21:27), Nina Lopes (24:24), and Chloe Mahoney (25:43) all got the job done.
On the boys’ side, they lost to Stang, but defeated Arlington Catholic. Matt Terrien – on his 18th birthday, no less – cruised to a team-leading time of 18:23. Matheus Menezes-Avendanha (18:25) finished close behind for St. Mary’s (3-3).
In a battle of the two undefeated girls teams in the Catholic Central, Bishop Feehan prevailed over Bishop Fenwick, 25-32.
Running without their No. 3 runner, Adelaide Sweatman, the Crusaders gave an outstanding effort and were within a point at the 1-mile mark. Julia Davis, Marianna Kay, Olivia Rowe, and Caroline Blatchford all ran well in defeat.
