Lynn rapper launches city-inspired clothing collection

LYNN — A local rapper has launched his own clothing line inspired by the city.

“This time around I was really like ‘OK, if I make this, it’s a Lynn thing first,’” Wells said.

Wells said presales of hats with the custom “Welcome to The Sin” logo sold out before his orders even came back in the mail.

“Everyone always wanted me to create something that was catered to here,” Wells said. “It’s an open lane, no one’s really touched this market.”

Since then, Wells said he’s sold more than 100 of just the black Lynn-inspired hats, around 100 hats of other specially ordered colorways like camouflage, navy and purple, and several sweatshirts that are also part of the collection.

“I get to not only have myself but everyone else represent where we’re from,” Wells said. “Kids either my age, a little bit older than me, or even a little younger than me want to wear something from here.”

Wells said although the collection was not his first, it was important that this one feature many of the places in the city that are important to him and those close to him.

“This time around I was really like ‘OK, if I make this, it’s a Lynn thing first.”

“I don’t want to create this and be like ‘This is a Lynn shirt, take it,’” Wells said. “It tells the story of here, but also my story as well.”

Wells said the inspiration for his collection was his desire to put Lynn on the map and for the city to have more visibility in the region and beyond.

The goal, Wells said, is for the hats’ ubiquity to match the status of one of his biggest inspirations.

“I really just want this to be a prominent Lynn hat like someone from New York wears the Yankee hat,” Wells said. “I want people to be able to wear this hat like that.”
