The Peabody volleyball team (15-2) traveled to Danvers Wednesday and quickly found itself down, 2-0.
The Tanners remained poised, however, rallying off three straight wins to complete the reverse sweep (22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-9).
The Tanners were led by senior Abby Bettencourt’s 30 assists and eight kills. Lizzy Bettencourt finished with 22 kills.
Sydney Lynch impressed with 34 digs, while Kayla Landry recorded seven kills and six blocks. Emma Lynch added four kills.
Head coach Lisa Keene praised Carly Chouinard, who was “solid at the service line” and played strong defense.
The Tanners’ next match is Tuesday when they travel to Beverly.

It was a clean sweep for the Spartans (9-7), picking up the road win in straight sets of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-17.
Top performers for the Spartans were Loryness Suriel, who registered seven kills, and Ellie Fox who contributed with 16 service points.
St. Mary’s is one win away from qualifying for the state tournament, and hosts KIPP at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Sachems are on the verge of history, nearing a playoff berth for the first time in the program’s history.
“We have our breast cancer game on Friday against Everett. If we end up winning that one, we will end up clinching a playoff game for the first time ever,” Saugus coach Mikayla Niles said. “I’m really proud of the girls and I hope everything goes the way we planned for Friday. They keep improving throughout the season.”

Another day, another sweep for the Panthers (25-15, 25-20, 25-15) in a win against Pioneer Charter. Of KIPP’s 25 assists, Lazuli Clark recorded 15 of them.

It was Senior Night for Swampscott, and the volleyball team lived up to expectations with 10 seniors playing the entire match in front of the home faithful.
Fayth Bascon, Brooke Farnum, Emily Noci, Jamila Oriakhi, Sofia Comfort, Sydney Antonelli, Olivia Horton, Aniyah Ross, Alessandra Zavala, and Melanie Blood were celebrated as Swampscott won in sets of 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, and 25-19.

The Magicians (6-9) had a tough night against a solid Masco squad. Leading the way for Marblehead was Lila Moniz who recorded 10 kills, while Maddie Cole chipped in with five.
Alyssa Gentile had 16 digs for the Magicians, who face Notre Dame Friday.

The Big Blue (8-5-1) went into enemy territory and left with a shutout win over the Magicians Wednesday, spreading the wealth with four goal-scorers: Sawyer Groothuis, Maisie Russo, Coco Clopton, and Lucy Brow.
Olivia Quagrello, Clopton, Russo, and Groothuis dished out assists, while Lilah Caplan earned the shutout in net.
The Big Blue look to ride the momentum into Friday against Bedford, while Marblehead hosts Beverly the same day.

The Spartans finished up the regular season with a win, cementing a 13-5 regular season record.
“I’m proud of the guys. They were pretty consistent throughout the lineup and played well today,” St. Mary’s coach Jay Fiste said. “I think we have a solid team.”
Shea Newhall (32 points), Andrew Potter (32), and Josh Doney (31) led the way for the Spartans.
St. Mary’s will look to pull off the upset Thursday against Bishop Stang at 8 a.m.
“Stang is pretty special this year. They’ve got to be the favorites to win it all,” Fiste said.

Marblehead (14-1) protected its home of Tedesco Country Club as all eight Magicians won their matches.
Charlie Grenier, Marty Ryan, Jacob Hershfield, Matt Mahan, Adrian Baron, Toby Grenier, Joy Meshulam, and Cam Comstock were match winners.
Grenier, Ryan and Meshulam all shot one-over-par.
Marblehead’s next match is Tuesday when it competes in the Division II North Sectionals at Stow Acres Country Club.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Peabody girls cross country team was crowned regular season champion of the Northeastern Conference with a victory against Marblehead.
For Marblehead (5-2), Marrietta O’Connell took first overall to extend her NEC dual meet unbeaten streak to two full seasons.
Despite O’Connell’s brilliance, the depth of Peabody was too much as it claimed second, third, fifth, sixth, and seventh. Marblehead’s Cat Piper finished fourth for the Magicians.
The Marblehead boys capped off their regular season undefeated (7-0) and captured the NEC championship. Isaac Gross finished first for the Magicians with Will Cerrutti following right behind for the one-two finish.
Jonah Potach had a “great day” for Marblehead and finished sixth, according to coach Brian Heenan.
