Dear Saugus Voters,
Lynn Environmental Volunteers is a group of residents from Lynn and surrounding areas who advocate for a cleaner and healthier environment. We aim to raise awareness about the many sources of pollution in our area, and we push for elected officials to address them. As such, we support local political candidates working on these issues.
Mike Serino and Debra Panetta of the Saugus Board of Selectmen have long been champions for our local environment. Both are Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment (SAVE) members, and Panetta is president of the Saugus River Watershed Council. Serino is the former chairman of both the Saugus Conservation Commission and the Open Space Committee, and is a member of the Conservation Law Foundation.
Most importantly, both leaders have been unwavering in opposing the proposed 20-year expansion of the WIN Waste Saugus ash landfill. This dump is unlined and dangerous, and its closure is long overdue.
In conclusion, we need their strong leadership and advocacy for the environment. For this reason, Lynn Environmental Volunteers fully endorses both candidates for re-election to the Saugus Board of Selectmen.
Regards,
Eliot Smith
