To the editor,
I was very upset by the Lynn Teachers Union’s decision to endorse only four of the five School Committee members. To exclude Lorraine Gately, a 30-plus-year member of the LTU, is wrong.
I served on the School Committee with Lorraine and know her to be a very conscientious and hardworking member. She takes the position very seriously and always does what is best for the students.
The whole concept of not advocating for an LTU member flies in the face of unionism itself. What ever happened to “united we stand,” brotherhood, and solidarity? I think that each member of the Lynn Teachers Union should rally and cast a vote for Lorraine Gately on Nov. 7.
