LYNN — Candidates vying for ward and at-large City Council seats will have the opportunity to make their pitches to constituents in person next week.
North Shore Community College will host a “meet-the-candidates” forum in the college’s gym from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.
The event is hosted by Disabled American Veterans Lynn-Swampscott Chapter 64 and NSCC Veterans Services.
DAV Cmdr. Jeffrey Blonder said the forum will be a chance for veterans to hear what prospective city officials have to say on important issues for veterans. Blonder noted that although the event is organized by the DAV and NSCC Veterans Services, it is open for all to attend and ask questions on issues that everyone in the community faces.
“We care about veterans’ issues, but we care about all issues that affect our lives,” Blonder said. “Veterans care about the schools, the streets, and housing… so we’re definitely open to anybody.”
All eight candidates in the councilor-at-large race and all six candidates running for the three contested ward seats have been invited to attend the event and make their pitch to voters.
Blonder said ward councilors running opposed have also been invited to attend the event and talk about the ongoing work they are doing for the community.
The forum will be one of the last chances for City Council candidates to publicly make their pitch to voters before election day on Nov. 7.
The last day to register to vote is Oct. 27.
