ROUNDUP: Cross country Bulldogs leave it all at MacDonald Park

Run, English, run. 

In Wednesday’s Greater Boston League championships at Torbert MacDonald Park in Medford, the cross country Bulldogs put on a show as both the boys and girls finished fifth in the GBL.

The brother-sibling duo of Maddy and Eamonn McHale led the charge. Maddy (20:20) placed 10th for the girls, while Eamonn (14:47) finished second among the boys.

Ian De La Rosa (15:29) and Elijah Phommachanh (16:35) also ran well for the boys; Rachel Villanueva (21:24) and Nina Ly (23:24) impressed on the girls side.

VOLLEYBALL

Nashoba 0

In set scores of 25-8, 25-10, and 25-14, Lynn Tech’s volleyball team (13-5) clinched the CAC Small Championship. Ariana Camilo (9 kills, 4 aces), Zahara Belizaire (11 assists, 3 digs, 2 aces, 2 kills), Maria Groscos (5 kills, 6 digs, 2 aces), Lesnee Izaguirre (5 aces), Ava Bishop (6 digs), and Katie Tartarini (5 digs, 2 kills) all delivered.

Archbishop Williams 2

The Spartans concluded their regular season as winners of sixth straight before tying Archbishop Williams Wednesday, 2-2. Sophie Skabeikis continued her excellent play, scoring both goals for St. Mary’s (10-6-2), which is off until next week’s MIAA tournament.

“The last five minutes, we had some chances, but we’ll take the hard-earned tie,” coach Jim Foley said. “We’re on a six-game unbeaten streak, so, hopefully, we can carry that momentum into the tournament.”

Snowden 0

The Tigers impressed on Senior Night with a 3-0 victory against Snowden behind strong performances from Elibette Rodriguez, Cindy DeLeon, and Emely DeJesus.

FIELD HOCKEY

Lincoln-Sudbury 5

St. Mary’s 1

St. Mary’s field hockey team (11-4-2) met its match against Lincoln-Sudbury, falling 5-1. Kasey Litwin had the goal for the Spartans in their regular season finale.
