SAUGUS — The School Committee is set to discuss the discipline or dismissal of Superintendent of Schools Erin McMahon in open session Thursday afternoon, according to Attorney Michael Long, who is representing McMahon.
The committee initially posted the meeting as an executive session, but the discussion will now be held in public at the request of Long and McMahon. The discussion being held in public marks a stunning reversal considering the sheer lack of information released by the committee about McMahon’s status since it first announced she was on paid administrative leave in January.
Long said the committee seems intent on terminating McMahon, a matter he said is of “some public input and interest.” He emphasized that McMahon believes she has not acted in a manner that would have given the committee reason to fire her.
The meeting is set for 4:30 p.m. in the School Committee Room at 25 Dow St.
