The No. 22 KIPP boys soccer team traveled to No. 11 Ayer Shirley in the Round of 32. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they couldn’t claw their way to the next round losing 2-1 in overtime.
The Panthers led 1-0 in the first half, thanks to a goal from junior Jelder Deleon from 30 yards out.
Ayer Shirley spoiled the party with a second-half strike.
Both teams were tied going into extra time. In the second half of extra time, Ayer Shirley won the game with seven minutes left.

Despite a strong first season for coach Jaymie Caponigro, the No. 27 Big Blue fell on the road to the No. 6 Cardinal Spellman 1-0.
“As a team, we had great results this season and we played very well today,” Caponigro said. “The 1-0 score didn’t reflect our effort as a team. The senior class set the tone for us this season and I am so proud of them.”
Although Swampscott is losing six seniors, the future is bright under the direction of Caponigro.
“Looking forward to what the future has in store for this young team,” Caponigro said.
