Well, they’re ranked No. 1 for a reason.

In set scores of 25-7, 25-6, and 25-18, the No. 16 Lynn Classical volleyball team (18-4) fell to Medfield (21-1) in the Division III Round of 16.

From Brooke Braswell, Emma Chevalier, Nevaeh Eth, and Amanda Hughes – who collected more than 200 kills this season – all the way down, what a season it was for the Rams.

Medfield hosts No. 8 Waylan Thursday at 6 p.m.

It was hard-fought, but, ultimately, a heartbreaker. No. 10 Lynnfield hit the road against No. 7 Hopedale in Division IV’s Round of 16, but returned home with a 2-1 overtime loss.

Emma Gosselin scored both goals for the Blue Raiders, and the Pioneers finished their season 12-8-2 behind coach Samantha Pindara.

The No. 12 Big Blue came ready, but met their match in No. 5 Foxborough on the road.

Mary Collins got the hosts on the board in the second quarter, and did it again in the fourth to double the lead.

Foxborough moved on to face No. 4 Sandwich in Division III, while Swampscott finished its season 12-6-2.
