After impressive, expectation-filled seasons, the Lynnfield and St. Mary’s boys soccer teams took part in their respective Sweet 16 matchups on Wednesday.
No. 14 St. Mary’s fell, 4-0, to No. 3 Norwell in enemy territory. Zach Bello (2), Ben Garland, and Ryan Johnson did the scoring, while Will Morse dished out two assists.
The Spartans, behind co-coaches Shane McCarran and Eddie Mercy Kisakye, finished with a strong 13-3-4 record, while Norwell moved on to its Elite 8 game against No. 6 Dedham in Division III.
As for No. 2 Lynnfield, it topped No. 18 Abington, 2-0, at Pioneer Stadium and moved on to face No. 7 Monument Mountain in Division IV.
