LYNN — The options for late-night and lunch-time dining in the city have increased with the opening of Valsos Table & Bar, located on Central Avenue at the site of the former R.F. O’Sullivan’s.
This is the second location for owner John Londono and partners Alex Herrera and Alvaro Garcia, who opened the original Valsos Table & Bar in Revere four years ago.
“Lynn is up and coming,” Londono, who has worked in the restaurant industry for 18 years and trained under chef Joshua Smith, said. “People love great food and there are a lot of great restaurants. We want to bring our concepts and add to that.”
Valsos Table & Bar is open seven days a week from noon to 1 a.m. with the kitchen open until midnight.
“We want to be there for those who are looking for a late-night bite and cocktail,” Londono, who lives in Revere and previously owned a pizza shop in Malden, said.
Londono described the menu as American, with an infusion of Latin and Italian. For example, it includes burgers, salads, chicken wings, pizza, tapas, and seafood.
“There is something for everyone,” he said.
Londono said in addition to providing American Rescue Plan Act funding, the city has been supportive in his effort to get the business started.
“The City of Lynn has been a great partner, very business-friendly and awesome to work with,” he said.
“This is a key location, especially with its proximity to City Hall, which has become a hugely popular concert venue,” Mayor Jared Nicholson said. “We are pleased to welcome John Londono and his team to the city.”
EDIC/Lynn Executive Director James Cowdell said the addition of restaurants such as Valsos Table & Bar is important, with the residential population of downtown Lynn increasing every day.
“Restaurants are a key piece of the economic development equation,” Cowdell said. “They serve the needs of a variety of people, from residents to employees to visitors. We are glad to have Valsos Table & Bar in Lynn.”
