LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield 2040 project team will host a Community Open House at the AI Merritt Center on Wednesday, Nov. 29 to discuss the Planning Board’s goals and findings from community-engagement activities.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. and it will be open to all residents and members of the town’s community. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to provide feedback.
According to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, Lynnfield 2040: Shaping Our Future Today is a community-visioning initiative through which residents, business owners, and other stakeholders can unite with town officials and the MAPC to imagine the town’s future. The process is being led by the Planning Board.
“A variety of engagement opportunities will be held to hear how Lynnfield residents and others want Lynnfield to look, feel, and operate over the next few decades,” the project’s website states. “The visioning process will cover a range of topics, from transportation and public infrastructure to economic development and housing. Opportunities and challenges will be articulated through the process to inform future planning efforts.”
The feedback the town provides will help form a vision statement that will guide the town’s boards and committees in decision-making, according to the project’s website. The plan can be referenced by community members, town officials and staff, volunteers, elected officials, and residents.
The town released the results of its 2040 vision survey a few months ago as part of the initiative.
The findings of the survey, which received 855 responses, highlighted the priorities community members want addressed in the next two decades. The survey is just one aspect of the project, which is the first time the town has undertaken a large effort to get community feedback about its future since developing a master plan in 2002, according to the initiative’s website.
