SAUGUS — Officials on Sunday identified a 42-year-old man as the victim of a ”fatal incident” at the Kowloon Restaurant Saturday night.

Patrick Kenney, Jr., of Milton, was found with a knife wound in the parking lot outside the iconic Route 1 landmark after 9 p.m. Saturday, Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker and Saugus Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli said in a joint statement. Kenney was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident appears to be accidental, and no other parties are believed to have been involved, the statement said.

In a statement, Kenney’s family recalled him as a “loving father and husband, brother, son and loyal friend to many.”

“Our family is mourning the loss of Patrick, focused on his wife Lauren and two young children, and trying to make sense of this horrific tragedy,” the statement said.

The incident comes less than two weeks after a brawl at the landmark restaurant on Thanksgiving eve. Four people were charged in the aftermath of that brawl, including two 19-year-olds.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and detectives from the Saugus Police Department are investigating the incident, the statement said.
