The Marblehead Police Department is asking residents of Pickwick, Trager, and Leicester roads to contact it with any information that could help in the investigation of a suspected break-in that took place Friday morning between the hours of 9:30 and 11:20 a.m.
The incident took place at a home bordering the old railroad right-of-way, which is in the area of the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore and Epstein Hillel School. The homeowner arrived at the residence to find a previously locked back door open. It was eventually determined that the door had been forced open and damaged. Police were immediately notified and searched the property.
Police suspect that the intruder may have been scared away by a large dog and, after interviewing the homeowner, believe the event was random rather than targeted.
The Police Department can be reached at 781-631-1212. It is also advising nearby residents to check their own properties for any tampering.
