LYNN — The memory of Gordon Hall III, the founder of the Hall Company, was honored in downtown Lynn on Friday afternoon.

A memorial bench dedicated to Hall Company founder Gordon Hall III was unveiled on Friday.

Members of the Hall family, as well as employees of the company, were on hand for the dedication of a memorial bench in Hall’s honor.

The stone bench, with Hall’s name engraved on it, is located along a walkway behind the Hall Company’s headquarters on Munroe Street.

Hall Company Chief Operating Officer Paul Amirault described how the decision to honor the company’s founder with a memorial bench was made.

The original idea was to plant a tree from Hall’s celebration of life service last year in his honor, but they were not able to secure one. Then, the idea turned to a memorial bench.

“We also thought that this was the perfect location because this is the home of the Hall Company,” Amirault said. “Where we are, all of us pass by it. We can all walk by here and be reminded of Gordon’s real-estate acumen, his love of the land, his love of the Hall Company, and love for all of us. We wouldn’t be standing here if it weren’t for Gordon.”

Hall’s son, Gordon R. Hall, the president and CEO of the Hall Company and an investor/partner in Essex Media Group, agreed.

“Paul was right: we wouldn’t be standing here,” he said. “Thank you all.”
