Two Saugus residents are facing charges after being arrested in separate incidents on New Year’s Day in New Hampshire.
Jameson Martinez, 21, is charged with driving while intoxicated, and Nico Dicenso, 20, is charged with possession of a false government identification, New Hampshire State Police said in a statement. Both men were bailed after their arrests, and will appear in the 10th Circuit Court’s Hampton district on Jan. 18, and Feb. 8, respectively.
The arrests came as a result of a New Hampshire State Police initiative, using the department’s airplane to monitor traffic on Interstate 95 in Greenland, allowing for enhanced detection of possible traffic violations, according to the statement. Between 8 and 11 a.m. on Jan. 1, 64 motor vehicle violations were identified.
Also on Monday, troopers issued a pair of reckless operation summonses for speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, the statement said. Another 15 speeding violations of 90 miles per hour or greater were identified and addressed.
“The success of this New Year’s Day initiative on Interstate 95 showcases the New Hampshire State Police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all motorists,” the statement said, noting the initiative was spearheaded by the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit.
That unit, the statement added, “focuses on enforcing traffic laws, promoting highway safety, and reducing the number of crashes on New Hampshire roadways.”
