With head coach Alvin Abreu referring to the opposition as “scrappy,” his Lynn English boys basketball team defeated Chelsea, 78-62, in enemy territory.
The Bulldogs moved to 6-2 on the season (losses came against Everett and St. Mary’s) and were led by Louis Ledesma (17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals), Denzell Guillén (16 points, 6 assists), and Pierre Veras (12 points, 8 rebounds).
Ledesma was the team’s “Dawg of the Game,” as announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.
English returns to the hardwood Tuesday at Malden with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.

Thursday’s showdown came down to the final shot in Somerville, but the 3-pointer came up short – as did Lynn Classical. The Rams were led by Marvin Avery Jr. as the point guard scored 11 points in defeat.
“It was a tough loss on the road,” said coach Marvin Avery Sr.

Talk about explosiveness. The Lady Bulldogs put up 70 points against Chelsea to put on a show for the home fans.
Every Lynn English player scored, including Maria Perry (13 points), Jaeleigh Perry (12), and Jayleen Novas (11). Amara Flores dished out 11 assists in the win.

KIPP kept its hot start intact, topping Notre Dame by 18 points at home. Hailey Herrera (13 points, 5 assists, 5 steals) and Sky Delacruz (13 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds) served as the one-two punch in this one.
