You know what I’ve been thinking? A three-game winning streak after a three-game losing streak says a lot about a program – especially under a first-year head coach.
After December losses to Everett, Masconomet, and St. Mary’s (Walter J. Boverini Tournament), the Lynn English girls basketball team had two choices: run, or respond.
For Sydney Brennan’s new squad, it was the latter.
Despite Tuesday night’s loss to Malden, the Lady Bulldogs pounced all over KIPP, rival Lynn Classical, and Chelsea in consecutive games this past week.
Putting the streak into perspective, the combined scorelines favored English, 190-109.
Jaeleigh Perry led the charge with 18, 20, and 12 points across the stretch, one that wouldn’t have been the same without Amara Flores, Jayleen Novas-Rivera, Dayana Hios, and Maria Perry, either.
They’re versatile, too. In the Chelsea game, every Lynn English player scored.
After the St. Mary’s defeat, and when asked about a New Year’s resolution, Brennan said it was to win more games (many early in the season went right down to the wire).
A few weeks later, consider it a mission accomplished.
English, good week.
