The Pioneers went into enemy territory and walked out with the win. Lynnfield (4-4; 3-3 in the CAL) beat Manchester-Essex 46-40 to move to .500 on the season.
After being down 26-22 at halftime, the Pioneers rallied in the second half and held Manchester-Essex to just two third-quarter points to take a 31-28 lead into the fourth quarter.
Then when the game was on the line, the Pioneers sealed the game at the free throw line making 6-of-8 to secure the win.
“Our defense was much better in the second half. This was a great win for the team. We had to play hard, come from behind, and maintain the lead,” Lynnfield coach Sue Breen said. “The kids continue to learn and grow. They are getting more comfortable playing together.”
It was a balanced attack as junior guard Emma Rose led Lynnfield with 15 points. Erika Pasquale followed with 10 points. Freshman Maeve Wertz did a bit of everything scoring seven, assisting twice, and blocking two shots.
Lynnfield’s next game is on Friday when it hosts Triton at 5:30 p.m.

Swampscott 43
The Rams (5-3) traveled to Swampscott and are going home with a 23-point win. Leading the way for the Rams was Marvin Avery Jr. who scored 16 points.
Rolky Brea Arias stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points and 10 blocks.
According to Rams coach Marvin Avery, Brea Arias also “dominated the glass.”
Lynn Classical will host Medford on Tuesday at 7 p.m., while Swampscott will host Winthrop on the same day and time.
Manchester-Essex 69
Lynnfield 48
Manchester-Essex went into the game undefeated, and it left the game undefeated. Manchester-Essex are now 9-0 and 7-0 in the Cape Ann League. For the Pioneers (6-3), Alex Fleming led the way with 17 points, while sophomore Harris Hadzihasanovic chipped in with 11.
Lynnfield will look to rebound on the road against Triton on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Pioneers took care of business on Monday afternoon thanks to Will Norton’s six-goal performance. Norton didn’t take long to make his presence felt on the ice as he scored four goals in the opening period.
Norton added another goal in each of the final two periods to give himself a performance to remember.
Owen Considine scored in the third period and provided two assists on the day.
Dylan Damiani (2), Evan Rocha (2), Aidan Norton (1), and Jarret Scoppettuolo (1) all provided assists in the win.
Mike Marenghi recorded 13 saves in net.
Rockport 4
Swampscott 2
The Big Blue (3-5-2) failed to convert its shots into goals on Monday afternoon. Swampscott had the shot advantage in the first period, but the Vikings scored two goals in the final minute to give them an early lead.
In the second period, Swampscott pulled a goal back as Beau Olivieri scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-1.
However, the Vikings punished the Big Blue more in the third period. In the blink of an eye, Rockport scored two goals within 29 seconds to extend its lead 4-1.
Swampscott’s Greg Balchenkoff scored late into the period. The goal was assisted by Jason Rothwell.
Bishop Fenwick 3

The two teams battled it out on the ice to a 3-3 draw. The Crusaders were led by its captains Anthony Sasso and Joey Marshall who both scored a goal. Fenwick’s Joe DeBernardo was the third scorer on the day.
It was hard to get past Crusaders’ freshman goalie Warren Dubois who pulled off 40 saves to keep Bishop Fenwick in the game.

The Jets fall to Lowell High in a matinee showdown. Anthony Alessi and senior captain Jayden Leblanc scored the goals for Lynn.
Leblanc, Pedro Lopez, and Kyle Furlong created the chances with each registering an assist.
In net, Nicholas DeNino had another solid day recording 28 saves.
Hingham 4
St. Mary’s 1
Hingham got the best of St. Mary’s on Monday. Higham scored in the first period to take an early lead.
In the second period, St. Mary’s fired back with a goal from Aidan Fitzpatrick to level it at one with 13 minutes left in the period.
Hingham, however, scored two late goals to give themselves a 3-1 lead at the end of the second period.
Hingham added a fourth in the third period to seal the victory. The Spartans were outshot 40-27.
