You know what I’ve been thinking? The Bruins sure impressed with a 9-4 win against Montreal Saturday night, but the week’s best goal-scorer resides from Lynnfield.
Boys hockey star Will Norton made it look easy for the Pioneers this past week – needing just two games to tally seven goals and an assist.
It wasn’t against easy competition, either. With Westwood on the schedule – a top-25 team in Division 2 (MIAA) – Norton sliced-and-diced his way to a six-goal game.
Yes, a six-goal game.
Coach Jon Gardner asked for someone in his locker room to step up. Norton obliged in the 7-0 landslide.
“We asked for someone to spark our offense. Light the fuse for the powder keg,” Gardner said. “Well, Will got the message.”
He certainly did, potting four goals in the first period alone.
And Saturday, Norton followed up his performance with a goal and an assist against Triton in a 5-2 final. He led Lynnfield in points alongside Owen Considine (2 goals).
Lynnfield may be sporting just four wins so far, but due to its strength of schedule, the Pioneers still hold a top-10 spot in the Division 3 power rankings.
Will, good week. Keep shooting.
