To the editor:
As an America First populist, I take issue with Walter Haug’s hyperbole and demagogy. The “psychopath” Mr. Haug rails against brought us four years of peace and prosperity. The Trump administration delivered:
- Unemployment among minorities, including women, was at or near record lows.
- His tax cuts garnered primarily working-class to middle-management jobs.
- Real wages grew and households earned an average of $6,000 more annually.
- Economic growth was high and inflation was low.
- The economy was humming.
- We were energy-independent and the largest exporter of natural gas worldwide.
- There were no new forever wars.
- The Abraham Accords established unprecedented cooperative relations in the Middle East.
- Croatia and Serbia instituted mutually beneficial economic ties.
- Our southern border was secure.
- A seat at the table.
President Biden has delivered:
- Astronomical inflation.
- Unprecedented homelessness.
- Rampant crime, particularly in urban centers.
- An invasion of upwards of 8 million untraceable illegal aliens.
- A war in Ukraine, whose border is unrelated to our national security.
- An emboldened China is threatening Taiwan, whose sovereignty does affect us.
- An even more unstable Yemen, with its Houthi rebels on the move.
- Iran promulgates unrest throughout the Middle East.
- A $1 trillion dollar annual payment on our ever-growing national debt.
- Destabilization of the American dollar’s dominance taking hold in the BRICS nations.
- An (in)Justice Department weaponized against the citizenry.
- Allegiance to the globalists, the elites, and the corporatists at the expense of the regular working, tax-paying American citizen.
This is not “good governance.” It’s chaos by design, ineptitude, or both. Like millions of others, I look forward to the return of peace and prosperity.
