A Saugus Middle School teacher was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of a Class A substance, according to the Saugus Police Department.
Police were called to the Saugus Middle/High School Complex at 10:39 a.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious substance found in a faculty bathroom, Chief Michael Ricciardelli said in a statement. After an investigation, responding officers arrested 52-year-old Roxanne Plaskon, a science teacher.
In a statement, Superintendent of Schools Michael Hashem said the allegations concerning Plaskon, who he did not identify, were “deeply concerning.”
Hashem and Ricciardelli confirmed no staff or students were in danger.
Information regarding Plaskon’s arraignment was not immediately available.
School Committee Chairman Vincent Serino did not return a request for comment.
