Steven A. Rosenberg, editor and publisher of The Jewish Journal, is the first journalist from New England to report from Israel since the beginning of the war with Hamas. He will share his reflections and experiences from the frontlines in Israel on Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at a community briefing at Congregation Shirat Hayam, 55 Atlantic Ave., Swampscott. Doors open at 7 p.m.
After more than two weeks in Israel, Rosenberg – a former Boston Globe staff reporter and network TV producer – will discuss his observations about the Hamas war with Rabbi Michael Ragozin of Congregation Shirat Hayam, the event’s co-sponsor. He will share his conversations with IDF troops, current and former Israeli government and security officials, and Israelis, and he will also discuss the psychological impact the conflict has had on the country since Oct. 7. He will also discuss the intelligence breakdown that led to the war, the hostages that are being held by Hamas in Gaza, the more than 200,000 Israelis displaced by the war, and the national trauma that Israel is dealing with.
The program is live and also viewable via Zoom.
