North Shore Juneteenth Association invites the general public to its Local Black Excellence Display Opening Night event at Lynn City Hall on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Part of the mission of North Shore Juneteenth Association is to highlight positive images of Black American culture and the diaspora. The goal of this association is to do this all year round and of course during Black History Month.
Join North Shore Juneteenth as flowers are given to Local Black Excellence honorees. Those recognized hail from Lynn, Gloucester, Danvers, and Salem. Four banners of honorees past and present will be on display.
The association strives to instill pride in the Black community and dispel stereotypes around the positive contributions of people of color.
The definition of Local Black Excellence is a person of color from Essex County who embraces being Black and has achieved in their career, contributed greatly to their community, or both! Nominations are collected in November of each year in preparation for the following year.
Participants will enjoy light refreshments, event speakers, and the unveiling of the display.
Congratulations to all of the 2024 honorees.
