Lynn Classical’s swimming and diving team competed in the Greater Boston League Meet this week, returning with a conference winner in junior Kaydee Rouse. She competed in the 100 freestyle.

“We had many terrific swims,” said Classical coach Denise Silva. “Standouts include Andrew Moore, David Gamero, Gianah Cowan, Aliany Ramirez, and Amanda Hughes.”

The Rams return to the pool Saturday at Lynn Tech for the city championships.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bishop Fenwick 74

Arlington Catholic 28

Bishop Fenwick star Cecilia Kay outscored Arlington Catholic herself, recording 37 points and 15 rebounds as the Lady Crusaders took care of business in enemy territory.

Fenwick’s Bella Lopez-Marin had six points and six assists, while “Samantha Dormer, Kate McPhail, and Tess Keenan all played well all-around in the victory,” as said by coach Adam DeBaggis.

Fenwick is now 11-1 and headed to Bishop Feehan Monday for a rematch against the Shamrocks – the only team to top the Crusaders this season (overtime).

Bishop Feehan 65

St. Mary’s 52

St. Mary’s made its way down to Attleboro Friday night, but returned home with a loss against the Shamrocks of Bishop Feehan. Maddy Steel led Feehan with 22 points.

As for the Spartans, AJ Hyacinthe (11 points), Bella Owumi (10), Reese Matela (10), Jill Roberts (8), and Lily Norton (7 points, 6 assists) all played strong games.

“I loved the way we competed, we just made mistakes that are correctable, but we can’t have those against the number one team in the state on the road,” said St. Mary’s coach Jeff Newhall. “We are better for playing against them in a great environment.”

Minuteman 42

Lynn Tech 39

Lynn Tech dropped a road game to Minuteman, 42-39, but still stands at 7-5 on the season. Engelyz Bingham led the Tigers’ charge with 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Camila Rufino Santos had 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals, while Allison Morales had seven points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.

“Niya Bingham stepped up and played unbelievable defense,” said head coach Kaitlyn Wechsler.

Innovation 55

KIPP 46

Despite Katrina Fortes of the Panthers putting on a show with 20 points and a dozen boards, KIPP’s girls basketball fell to Innovation by single digits. Hailey Herrera played a strong game as well, sporting 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Arlington Catholic 74

Fenwick 49

Host Arlington Catholic had its way with the Crusaders Friday night, but not without Fenwick positives. James Meklis scored 12 points, followed by Jimmy Vahey (10), Vince Finocchio (8), and Kurtis Bruch (8).

Shawsheen 65

KIPP 48

KIPP gave it all it had, but met its match against Shawsheen on the road. The Panthers trailed by as many as 28, but cut the deficit to eight points in the fourth quarter.

Lynnfield 36

Pentucket 31

The Pioneers upped their record to 10-3 and 8-2 in the Cape Ann League. More importantly Friday night, Lynnfield clinched a spot in the Division 3 state tournament. Alex Fleming (15 points) and Chris Daniels (12) led the way.
