Both the boys and girls Swampscott basketball teams took care of Danvers by double digits.
For the host boys team, it won 70-56 behind Connor Chiarello’s 22 points. He was followed by Liam Wales (18), Nakeylan Davis (11), and Gabe Tripp (8).
“We did a great job finding the open man tonight and making the open shots,” said boys coach Jason Knowles, whose Big Blue improved to 8-6.
His team’s next game is a home one against Beverly on Friday.
The girls took care of business on the road. In the 37-20 final, Lexi Farnum reached double digits with 11 points, while Victoria Quagrello played “an excellent defensive game,” as said by coach Katelyn Leonard, alongside 12 rebounds.
The Big Blue girls improved to 7-7 before visiting archrival Marblehead on Thursday (7 p.m.).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Charlestown 78
Lynn English 74
The visiting Lynn English Bulldogs – who led after each of the first three quarters – gave it everything they had Tuesday night, but fell to Charlestown in a boys basketball thriller, 78-74.
English led 54-51 heading to the fourth, but Charlestown went on a 20-13 run to put the pressure on. Despite a Denzell Guillen triple to cut the deficit to four points with a minute remaining, the Bulldogs couldn’t pounce the rest of the way.
English’s Kyle Kemembin put on a show with a game-high 29 points, but among several double-digit scorers for the hosts, Jaylin Williams-Crawford led Charlestown’s charge with 20 points.

What a senior year it’s been for Anthony Forte, who did it again Tuesday night with 31 points (7 threes) against Salem in enemy waters.
In the 69-42 final, Raphel Laurent (17 points, 8 assists), Jariel Tolentino (12 points), Jim Festa (6 points), John Lucas (5 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 steals), and Cam Connolly (3 assists, 5 steals) led Peabody, which moved to 13-2.

The host Sachems fell to 4-10 on the season after their 17-point defeat at the hands of Dracut. Danny Shea, Ryan Shea, and Huey Josama all tallied 13 points.
Isaiah Rodriguez (7 points) and Travis Goyetche (3) followed behind in the scoring column.

In non-league action at the Tony Conigliaro Gymnasium, the Spartans closed the game on a 47-6 run to send the faithful home happy. JJ Martinez did what he does best, dropping 30 points to catapult St. Mary’s to an 11-5 record.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynn Classical 38
Triton 33
Another night, another game in which Keisha Perez led the Lynn Classical Lady Rams in scoring. The junior posted 11 points as Classical escaped Triton with a single-digit win.
Lauren Wilson added 10 points while sharpshooting Savannah Tang tallied eight. Classical upped its record to 10-2 before it visits Somerville on Thursday.

There was no doubt about it. The girls basketball Tanners started strong and finished stronger en route to a dominant win at home. Fresh off her Moynihan Lumber Student-Athlete of the Month nod, Logan Lomasney registered 26 points to go with 10 boards.
Olivia Gaynor (16 points), Sophia Coburn (6), Aliana Ryan (6), and Maia Davis (6) all chipped in on the scoreboard, while do-it-all Abby Bettencourt dished out seven assists to go with her 10 steals.
According to coach Stan McKeen, Madi Gath Gimas, Avery Bettencourt, and Lizzie Bettencourt all came to play for Peabody, which hosts Lynn English at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sky Delacruz continued her stellar season with a game-winning basket from downtown, sinking Rockport in a Tuesday night showdown. Katrina Fortes (13 points, 15 rebounds) and Hailey Herrera (19 points, 5 threes) led in the statistics department.

Lynn Tech received a strong performance from Engelyz Bingham (21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals), but fell to Greater Lawrence in enemy territory. Allison Morales (7 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals) and Aliyah Volquez (6 points, 9 rebounds) also played well.

Two wins in two nights – that’s what the Saugus girls basketball team has served up early in the week.
In this one, guard Peyton DiBiasio put on a show with 25 points, Ashleigh Moore buried a few clutch threes, and both Madi Femino and Devany Millerick made plays on defense.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
In Tuesday’s Northeastern Conference Championship, Marblehead’s boys swimming and diving team raced to a huge win – by hundreds of points.
“The boys swam out of their minds,” said longtime coach Susan Guertin. “We went one-two in almost every event… so it was a great meet.”
