ROUNDUP: Saugus girls hoops win on senior night

The Sachems honored its seniors on Monday night and they went home with the win. Saugus beat Gloucester 59-40 in a NEC matchup. 

Saugus honored its eight seniors, and leading the seniors was Ashleen Escobar who scored 13 points. Fellow senior Ana Silva chipped in with nine points. 

Peyton DiBiasio led the team with 18. 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Ipswich 49

Lynnfield 30

It was a tough road game for the Pioneers (5-9) falling to Ipswich. The Pioneers were led by freshman Maeve Weretz who scored seven points. 

Taylor Valiton scored six, with Emma Rose and Faith Angelo each scoring five. 

The Pioneers will look to get back to winning ways on Thursday when they play Essex Tech. 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lynnfield 68

Ipswich 57

Lynnfield kept on rolling with a double-digit victory. The Pioneers earned their 12th win of the season and are now 10-3 in the CAL and 12-4 overall. 

Harris Hadzihasanovic had the hot hand on Monday scoring 18 points. Alex Fleming had his hands on the glass, securing 15 rebounds to go with 16 points. Chris Daniels also had a double-double with 10 assists and 12 rebounds. 

Zach Pincus (11) and Iain McCarthy (12) also reached double figures in scoring. 

Lynn Classical 73

Medford 58

The 8-5 Rams secured another win thanks to a 21-point performance from Marvin Avery Jr.

Lynn Classical got help from DJ Reynolds (14 points, 7 rebounds) and Rolky Brea Arias (15 points and 10 rebounds). 

Classical’s  next game is on Tuesday when it  hosts Swampscott.
