With that versatile offensive attack, Bishop Fenwick’s boys basketball team used it again Friday night. The Crusaders visited Swampscott High and left with a 65-54 win against the Big Blue.
Lynn’s James Meklis led Fenwick’s charge with 23 points, while Brady Jenkins (14), Jimmy Vahey (12), and Jake Bellacini (8) followed. Vahey tracked down 17 rebounds, too.
“Hats off to Fenwick. They came to play today,” said Swampscott coach Jason Knowles. “They came out hot, hitting from everywhere. We were down by as much as 20 and got it to as close as seven.
For the Big Blue (11-8), Connor Chiarello continued his breakout season with 20 points, while Nakeylan Davis added another eight.

Saugus 48
The Masconomet Lady Chieftains took advantage of their Senior Night momentum Friday night, defeating Saugus, 51-48. Saugus still holds a strong record of 13-5 on the season. Plus, it received a strong performance from senior Ashleen Escobar, who netted 21 points in defeat.
Peabody 70
Salem 28
The Peabody Tanners upped their record to 12-5 with a monstrous win against host Salem. Logan Lomasney reached 1,000 career points with a 28-point night alongside four steals.
Olivia Gaynor had 13 points, while Aliana Ryan and Avery Bettencourt each netted eight. Sophia Coburn added six points, five assists, and six rebounds, while Maddie Gath Gimas, Abby Bettencourt, Lizzie Bettencourt, and Maia Davis all played strong games, according to coach Stan McKeen.
