In its regular season finale, KIPP’s boys basketball team put on a show en route to a 62-49 victory against Greater Lowell Tech.
The host – and very versatile – Panthers were led by four players in double-figures. Leading the charge were Tolu Abosede (16 points), Viccee Howard (15), Trosky Peña (10), and Caleb Bior (12). Bior came down with 10 rebounds, too.
KIPP – which, by design, scheduled tough opponents this season behind coach Moody Bey – checks in at 10-10 ahead of this weekend’s MIAA Division 4 bracket release.
“So we are in the playoffs,” Bey said. “We had to win the last four to clinch, but, also, due to our tough schedule, this has us sitting around the 23-28 range in the power rankings.”

Hingham 3
St. Mary’s 2
A highly-anticipated Hingham Showcase matchup between St. Mary’s and host Hingham, this one was a dandy.
The Spartans – without captain Kasey Litwin – fell down early, but star freshman Bella Freitas ripped two goals in the first period to give the visitors a 2-1 cushion.
But Hingham found its game-winning goal with 9:28 remaining in regulation, and a comeback attempt for St. Mary’s fell short to bring an end to its regular season.
