Lynn Museum/Lynn Arts on 590 Washington St. will be the site of an interactive civic engagement between young women in elementary, middle, high school, and college Saturday, with the League of Women Voters Massachusetts (LWVM) hosting the celebration of Women’s History Month.

A series of programs is slated for the free event.

The League of Women Voters is partnering with Lynn Museum/Lynn Arts, Reading Cooperative Bank, LWV of Marblehead, LWV of Salem, Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn, Healing Abuse, Working for Change (HAWC), Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition, Suffrage100MA, Massachusetts Women’s History Center, Raw Art Works and North Shore Juneteenth Association, Inc.

Councilor-At-Large and North Shore Juneteenth Association Founder Nicole McClain discussed the importance of this event. McClain is the first Black woman elected to the Lynn City Council.

“Celebrating Women’s History is close to my heart. Sharing this celebration with youth and young adults in our community by encouraging them to take action on issues they believe in is innovative. I am proud to be a part of a collaboration of organizations that are bringing this programming to Lynn,” McClain said.

The morning session, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is for elementary through eighth grade students and will feature round-robin sessions, a hands-on art project with Raw Art Works and a boxed lunch.

The keynote speaker, Laurie Ann Thompson, author of “Be a Changemaker: How to Start Something that Matters!,” will speak at 1 p.m. This presentation will be held virtually on Zoom and students who are unable to travel to Lynn may register at https://tinyurl.com/yxryjz7p.

Following the keynote, the afternoon session is for high school and college students and will include a presentation and special announcement by Fredie Kay, founder and president of Suffrage100MA.

There will also be a panel discussion facilitated by Pattye Comfort, LWVMA Executive Director,

Gail Jackson Blount, founder and president of Jackson Communications, Lena Crowley, director of teen and middle school programs, Girls, Inc. of Lynn, and Adriana Paz, campaign manager for McClain.

Jackson Blount’s segment is titled “Standing in Our Power,” Crowley’s is “Youth Changers!,” and Paz’s theme for her panel’s discussion is “What it Takes to Run for Office.”

Registration is required, and available at https://tinyurl.com/49h8p72a.
