Marblehead’s Got Talent finalists announced

Ryan Vermette

March 15, 2024 by Ryan Vermette

Ten finalists have been announced for Marblehead’s Got Talent 2024, with $15,000 in scholarships on the line.

Fifteen students performed at the MGT semifinals Wednesday night at the Marblehead High School auditorium. From ukuleles to an electric guitar, everyone showed off their musical talent.

Each year, MGT, put on by the Marblehead Rotary, sees some of Marblehead’s brightest stars competing for a share of scholarships. The finals this year will take place at the Cabot Theater in Beverly March 27.

“There was one thing for sure and that is that Marblehead definitely has talent,” Rotary member and MGT Chair David Deutsch said in a statement. “Fifteen students performed their hearts out and everyone of them did wonderfully and I was very proud of them all. They not only sounded great, but they all dressed like stars.”

The 10 students moving onto the finals include: August Belf, Emett Charney, Lani Gilmore, Lucy Key, Brooklyn Lorenz, Sadie Newburg, Jake Piascik, Anthony Vizzy, Brady Weed and Eldar Yahorau.

Gilmore, Lorenz, Newburg, and Vizzy all received the highest vote totals and will be presented with $500 fourth-place awards at the conclusion of the finals.

This year’s MGT winner will receive a $5,000 prize, followed by a $3,000 award for second, and $2,000 for third.

“Marblehead’s Got Talent is all about the arts and the Rotary Club of Marblehead stands behind all of our students, all of the time and that’s why we have this event,” Deutsch said. “Rock on.”
