LTE: Danielle Leonard will bring transparency to the Swampscott Select Board

To The Editor

April 7, 2024 by To The Editor

To the editor:

Beyond a doubt Danielle Leonard is the most qualified candidate running for the open seat on the Select Board.

Several frustrated citizens attended the Select Board meeting on Feb. 12, 2024, after learning the Select Board was negotiating a new contract with Town Administrator Sean Fitzgerald 18 months before his contract ended. Danielle Leonard addressed the Select Board during the public-comment period with a strong expression of displeasure concerning the secret actions (“behind closed doors”) of the board. She spoke with civility but with clarity.

I knew at that moment Danielle Leonard was the candidate I wanted to help and to endorse. I have been a Town Meeting member for 52 years and have practiced law in Swampscott for almost 50 years. Believe me, I know Swampscott.

Danielle is articulate and will not be intimidated by anyone. She is a human resources professional who will help Select Board member MaryEllen Fletcher bring transparency and trust to the actions of the Select Board. No more secrecy.

This is our chance to bring new leadership from someone with the background, training, and experience we so badly need. It is my hope you do everything you can to help elect Danielle.

She is the real thing.
