LTE: Presidential candidates are raising ludicrous sums of money

To The Editor

April 8, 2024 by To The Editor

To the editor:

The media reported recently that President Joe Biden collected $26 million in one campaign event in New York City and former president Donald Trump garnered $50 million at an event in Florida. These sums seem rather ludicrous and the donors foolish to spend such huge sums of money, which will probably benefit them personally in some way. The candidates no doubt want the power that goes with it when and if they are elected. Of course, the money can be used more wisely for those in need of basic human necessities like food, clothing, shelter and health care.

Yours truly,

Philip J. Celeste
