Fresh off its season-opening defeat against Lynnfield on Saturday, first-year coach Leon Elwell and his young Lynn Classical baseball team flipped the switch against Everett on Tuesday. The final score favored the visiting Rams (1-1), 12-1.
Leading the charge was Christian Figueroa, who went 3-for-3 with two runs while striking out 10 Everett batters. Rolky Brea went 2-for-5, while Elijiah Morin and Almani Gerardo also contributed offensively.
“We played everybody. The freshmen continue to impress me,” Elwell said. “Defensively, we made all the plays we needed to make… It was a total reverse of our first game – I think we got all of the nerves out.”
The Rams look to keep the momentum intact on Wednesday as they host Malden at Fraser Field with first pitch slated for 7 p.m.
BASEBALL
Boston Collegiate Charter 3
Lynn Tech 1
Despite strong defense and effort, plus being “in striking distance the entire game,” according to head coach Eddie Lewis, his Lynn Tech Tigers (1-1) fell to Boston Collegiate Charter at Fraser Field.
“We just got off to a slow start. We played some solid defense tonight, but we had a couple of plays that we would’ve loved to get back. Whenever we got some momentum going, they were able to find a way to slow us down,” Lewis said. “With the exception of a few mental errors, we were in striking distance the entire game.”
Tech’s next game is Friday against city rival KIPP Academy, with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
“They always come to play, so it should be a good one,” Lewis said.
Peabody 5
Revere 2
No home diamond, no problem for Peabody’s baseball team, which defeated the Patriots by three runs on Tuesday. Josh Sigmon, Mike Petro, Cam Connolly, and Zach Hartnet recorded two hits apiece, while Dylan Annese picked up his second win of the spring after entering in the fourth inning.
Triton 6
Lynnfield 5
In a game that got away, Lynnfield (1-1) dropped one against the Vikings of Triton. The Pioneers suffered from men left on base, and a balk to bring in Triton’s winning run.
Taking positives from a negative, Tyler Adamo, Dylan Damiani, and Nicholas Groussis had two hits apiece.
SOFTBALL
Lynn English 8

Talk about a near-perfect display of consistency. The Lynn English softball team scored runs in four consecutive innings to put a lid on Somerville at home. The final score favored the Bulldogs, 8-0.

“Ben had a bunch of great saves… Tyler Maddocks had another great day on faceoffs,” said Lynnfield coach Pat Lamusta. “Great job distributing on the offensive end by Considine – great vision and patience.”
