The Sachems are officially in the win column following a 14-11 win at home against Hamilton-Wenham.
“It was a slugfest and we were fortunate enough to come out on the winning end,” Saugus coach Steve Almquist said. “We didn’t play our best game but well enough to escape with the victory.”
Captain Taylor Deleidi went the distance on the mound to earn herself her first win of the season. At the plate, Deleidi registered two hits and brought home three RBI.
Captains Devany Millerick, Ava Rogers, and Lily Ventre all had at least two hits and three RBI in the win.
Saugus will look to keep the momentum going on Tuesday at 3:30 against Winthrop at Parcher Field.
“We’ve got a ton of work to do if we want to remain competitive but it was nice to get that first win under our belt,” Almquist said.

Lynn Classical (2-1) got the win over the Bulldogs (1-3) on Monday morning. Senior pitcher Rachel Dana allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out 10.
In the batters box, Classical’s Lauren Wilson went 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and four runs scored. Sophomore Brooke Braswell was 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI.

After a long 10 innings, the Crusaders came up on the wrong end of the score. Archbishop Williams won off of a walk-off single. This is Bishop Fenwick’s second extra innings game in that they fell short.

The Spartans flashed their offensive power with a solid team win. JJ Avery, Shea Newhall, and Gabe Diaz combined for 13 strikeouts from the mound.
In the seventh inning, Diaz was on the mound and delivered a 1,2,3 inning with all three batters striking out.
BOYS LACROSSE
Swampscott 15
Salem 5
It was total domination for the Big Blue who put 10 of their 15 goals past Salem in the first half.
Jason Rothwell led the way for Swampscott with five goals and an assist. Liam Keaney showed his playmaking ability registering four assists and contributing with two goals. Jack Hazell also chipped in with three goals.
The Big Blue are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Gloucester for a 4 p.m. game.

It was a tough game for the Tanners as the Magicians were firing on cylinders. Marblehead protected home field and led 10-0 at halftime.
Peabody’s Aiden Haight recorded 16 saves in net.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Swampscott 17

The Swampscott girls lacrosse team keeps on rolling this time taking care of business on the road. The Big Blue remains a perfect 5-0 after Monday’s performance.
The goals were spread around as Swampscott had 11 different scorers. Lyla Rogers registered her first varsity goal in the win, while Coco Clopton (2 goals, 1 assist) continues to add points to her impressive resume.
The Big Blue are back in action on Thursday when they face Beverly at Blocksidge Field.
BOYS TENNIS

The Rams protected home court against Revere with a clean sweep. Revere didn’t have a third singles player so Lynn Classical started the day up 1-0.
First singles Victor Bun won his match 6-1, 6-2, while fellow teammate and second singles player Axil Ortiz won 6-2, 6-0.
Doubles pairing Cang Vo and Tommy Prou didn’t lose a game winning 6-0, 6-0, while second doubles Julian Jarjour and Ori Beato only dropped one game, 6-0, 6-1.

The Rams lost a close match in enemy territory on Monday morning.
First singles and freshman Amber Sotomayer won her match 6-0, 6-0. Sotomayer received praise from head coach Laurie Wentzell-Ryan.
“She played amazing,” she said.
Second singles Linda Jallow had to show her conditioning and strong mindset to overcome a three-hour match in which she won 7-6, 3-6, 7-5.
“She hung in there and stepped up her game in the final set,” Wentzell-Ryan said.
It was a tough competitive match between two quality teams and in the end, the Rams fell short.
