DANVERS — Northeast Arc, a nonprofit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities and autism become full participants in the community, has elected Britte McBride to its board of directors.

Britte McBride is an attorney and senior government leader with nearly two decades of experience working on complex issues of public policy, regulation, and large organization administration. McBride currently serves as the chief of staff and assistant general counsel for the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, an office with oversight of five state agencies as well as several individual programs.

“I’m thrilled to be appointed as a member of Northeast Arc’s board of directors,” McBride said. “I have witnessed firsthand the outstanding and life-changing services, guidance, and advocacy of Northeast Arc and I am excited to be part of its future.”

McBride began her legal career as counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and went on to join the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. She later served as chief of the Policy and Government Division and deputy chief of staff for that 500-person office. She served as deputy counsel to the Massachusetts Senate before being appointed as one of the inaugural members of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission where she served from 2017-2020. She also ran her own solo law office and consulting practice.

“We are thrilled to welcome Britte to the Northeast Arc board of directors,” Northeast Arc Board Chair Heidi Ellard said. “Her successful legal career combined with her understanding of the impact that Northeast Arc services can have on a family will offer invaluable insights to the organization as we continue to innovate and strengthen our support of individuals with diverse abilities.”

McBride, who lives in Lynnfield, is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Suffolk University Law School.
